	CHATTANOOGA BAKERY After 100 years, the Moonpie is as popular as ever. Customers often wonder how the bakery thought of the name “Moonpie” for their bestseller. Well, years ago one of the bakery’s salesmen was traveling to see his customers. One evening, he met a group of coalminers and began to ask them what they would like to see in a snack for their lunch pails. After a few questions, he asked one of the miners how big this snack should be. 	CHATTEM The company was founded as the Chattanooga Medicine Company in the late 1800’s when a group of prominent Chattanooga businessmen led by Zeboim Cartter Patton each invested $1000.
